Cub Scouts

Daxon and Caleb had a great time at Pack Meeting. We had hot dogs, water guns, and a couple of slip-n-slides. Caleb received his Athlete pin and is one step closer to his Arrow of Light Award.

Bethany

Bethany found out yesterday that she made the JV Theater Arts program for High School. We are so excited for her. It is an advanced theater program with a pretty intense schedule. She will have to work really hard but she loves theater and is looking forward to it. She worked really hard before auditions, spending lots of hours practicing lines and trying to perfect the southern accent of one of the characters. We are so proud of her!

Mother's Day

I got the royal treatment for Mother's Day. Rico and the kids cooked a great Italian meal and everyone bought or made presents. All the gifts were great, but Bethany's was definitely the most entertaining. She bought me a red Superman cape (because I am, of course, Supermom, Ha-Ha:) She also wrote me a poem...

You can't fly and you don't have x-ray vision
But you have the power to make a good decision.
You're not invincible or even super strong
But you helped teach us right from wrong.
You can't live forever, you will eventually die
But you make a mean meal, I'm not gonna lie.
You're goofy and fun and getting pretty old
But your worth to me is much more than gold.
You embarrass me in front of all my peers
But I've gotten use to it over the years.
You listen to country music and even sing along
Which, most of the time, isn't exactly my choice of song.
You think you're too fat, that your tummy's as big as can be
But no matter what, you're still beautiful to me.
And even though sometimes you can be pretty lame
You're still my hero just the same.

Thanks for the great poem Bethany. Of course, as a parent, I still reserve the right to be lame, act goofy, and embarrass you as often as possible.

Sam and Tim

Sam and Tim came for a visit at the beginning of May. We took them to the aquarium and to the Movie Tavern where we received the worst service ever, but had fun anyway. We are so excited to have them living in Dallas and look forward to seeing them as much as possible.

Caleb and Daxon finished another season of soccer. It may be our last. Caleb wants to try golf and has been learning from his dad. Daxon wants to try baseball next. We love watching our boys play whatever sport they choose. Here is Caleb in his position as goalie.

Bethany's 14th Birthday

Bethany had her 14th birthday in April. She planned everything on her own, mom just had to serve as chauffer. She made a mall scavenger hunt for her and her friends. After that we ate Chinese food in the food court and watched a movie. Then they stayed up all night giggling and eating junk food.
